🔥Why is therapy such a pain in the neck?
Earlier this year I developed a pain in my neck which I ignored, thinking it would go away and I could manage it without seeking professional help.
As time went on, I began to avoid doing certain things as they were too painful. The daily pain affected my sleep and this in turn affected my mood but still I did nothing apart from just putting up with it.
Eventually, 8 months later the pain was so bad that I booked in and paid to see my local professional physiotherapist and the relief afterwards when the pain lifted was worth every penny. On reflection, had I been sensible and got the help that I needed at the time I could have saved myself months of pain.
This resonates in my therapy practice, as I regularly see clients who have struggled for many, many years with the daily pain of anxiety, trauma, PTSD, intrusive thoughts and many other psychological issues. If you are struggling, maybe it’s time to seek professional help.
